In normal circumstances I probably would not pay attention to a Best Of (even with Rarities on board), but as this is another Melodic Rock Records release from mister Andrew McNeice, and I always have the urge to support him, here we go.
Airless are a Spanish band that have released 4 albums so far. Those are all presented with at least two songs on disk 1 of this collection. Most noticeable for me is the guitar work, which reminded me a lot of the fabulous work of one Pete Lesperance from Harem Scarem. So if Pete is one of your heroes, that might be a reason to check these guys out. Guitar player Robert Rodrigo also doubles as producer by the way. Singer Inaki Lazcano sings nowhere near Harry Hess, so no more HS camparisons 🙂
Another reason could be that the songs presented here are pretty good stuff. The band manage to stay away from all too obvious routines, and deliver a bunch of melodic rock tunes that convince.
The second CD is a collection of demo’s, contributions to compilations, unreleased tracks, Japanese bonus material and closes with a Spanish version of a track that is also present on disk 1. And I must say, the demo´s are as strong as the rest of the songs and have a more than decent sound quality. And even more fab fretwork.
So should you never have heard of Airless before but like melodic rock, or just because you want to support Andrew, if you are interested hurry, because it is almost sold out (and for good reason!)
