Often the first album that you hear from a band (and like) becomes your favourite. In case of White Heart this was not the first album I heard, but definitely ranks among my personal faves from them. Several high profile musicians were part of this band (Dan Huff anyone?) so you know there must be something you can get out of it…
First thing to notice about this album is the unbelievable sound. Produced by members Billy Smiley and Mark Gersmehl, this is top notch in every way. Transparent, warm, clear, yet oh so powerful and dynamic.
Second are the clever lyrics. Okay, this is a Christian band, so yes, there is a message here and there. But it is not preaching and never distracts from the fact that this band rocks and writes damn catchy tunes.
Next high light are the players involved. Several lead singers, awesome guitar and keyboards, groovy bass and hard hitting drums.
So the opening duo of Raging Of The Moon and His Heart Was Always In It already make it clear the band mean business. The first with inventive lyric and arrangement, the second for being unbelievably catchy yet hard rocking. And the high quality is maintained throughout. Slow, fast, emotional or plain rocking, they pull it all off with ease and class.
So bottom line is that if you like good songs and mighty melodies, you ought to give this lot a chance. They have released numerous albums in the 80’s and 90’s but are alas non existent today. Pick this up and prepare to be blown away.
