RPWL guitarist Kalle Wallner’s fourth solo album is, as you might expect, first and foremost about guitar. Be it with riffs, solos or melodies, guitars are the main foundations of every song on offer here. With the exception of track 3, which sees Arno Menses from Subsignal return, and track 6 where Carmen Tannich adds her voice as an additional instrument. And let’s not forget that Marco Minneman is providing (high calibre) drums here.
But rest assured, when I say that the guitar is what drives this album, much of the colour outside of drums and bass is provided by synths and sequencers (some of which are courtesy of RPWL’s Yogi Lang of course). In a way that really enhances the songs. So while the songs titles (One to Seven) are not very imaginative, the same cannot be said about the songs themselves. Lot’s of things to enjoy here, especially for those who are already fond of Wallners inspired (yes, partly by Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour) playing.
In my opinion, more proof that music that is in large part instrumental, is able to convey emotions and deliver tasty songs.
