Previous album The Day Is Done showed that Karmamoi are more than capable of combining powerful lyrical content, with emotional and intelligent music. So it should not be a surprise that George Orwell’s 1984 serves as the backbone for the 7 tracks on this release. As before, the mostly slow to mid-tempo tracks are filled to the brim with melancholy, sudden bursts of energy, and clever arrangements that let all the participants shine. And while the album is not instant, I love listening to it as it gets better with every play. Favourite tracks are Drop By Drop and closer The New World.
This is another diamond that slowly reveals its beauty. Fans of Steven Wilson’s music will probably enjoy this as much as I do!
