And while on the subject of instrumental music; this one is of a completely different order. You might know Nerissa Schwarz from Frequency Drift, but here she is with her second solo album. It is inspired by the theme of self-aware artificial intelligence. Nerissa wrote all the music and performed almost all the instruments you hear: electric harp, keyboards and synths. Mixer Andreas Hack added some keys too.
These 9 songs take more time to digest if you compare this to my previous post about the Pymlico album. Here, the songs serve to create a mood, with a lot of textures. This makes for a very inventive album, in which the instruments and additional effects play a big part in the intricate arrangements. The result creates an intriguing listening experience and an album that crosses genres with ease.
So I can conclude with the timeless words of R. Robbertson “I like it, it’s good”.
