Suns Of Stone, Self Titled, 2014

suns of stoneOn account of Bad Reputation, we have the first to be released soon album for you! And if you are familiar with that label, I am sure you are expecting some hard rock! Be assured, it is. Despite the relatively short history of this Canadian quartet, starting early 2012 (!), the musical roots of this band date to the magnificent seventies mixed with more contemporary sounds. Think Lynyrd Skynyrd, Led Zeppelin and Rival Sons or The Black Crowes. So let´s call it blues inspired, Southern flavoured, hard riffing classic rock.

For me it is easy to like songs like for instance Rise Up, Stormbringer, A Little More, For Some Reason or Talking To Me. I love the big grooves, the little twists here and there and the straight guitar sound of the band. Singer Alan has a voice that sometimes strangely reminds me of a young Barry Hay (Golden Earring), although he might be a little more raw at times.

All in all very convincing even if not 100% of the material is of the same high calibre (yet). But we get 10 songs that kick ass and sure promise a bright future. So keep an eye on these guys, they should be able to toughen the competition at the top.
