This quartet consists of a percussionist / Indian Tabla drummer, an accordionist, a tuba player and a composer / saxophonist. Out on the Moonjune label, so those familiar with that name will understand that this is not going to be your average audio fodder.
That said, I have found the music, inspired by traditional Balkan music, to be way more melodic and expressive as I anticipated. Opener Meeting is a melodic and folky danceable tune, whereas Green Nymph is a soft and moody piece. The Partisan Song is more complex, especially in a rhythmic sense, but that is natural for Balkan music, or so I believe. Of course, lots of virtuosity on offer too.
Conclusion is that, compared to some other releases on the label, this is a release that is far easier to enjoy!
